biography:

Lisa Pollard was born in Melbourne in 1969; she now works and lives in Newcastle. Pollard studied art in Brisbane, Sydney and London, experimenting with many mediums. Colour evokes strong emotional responses for Pollard and this has been transferred into many of her pieces. She enjoys the inter connectedness of shape, design, contour and texture. Pollard introduces layers of paint, generating abstract canvasses using her hands and implements to merge colours and generate moving pieces. She enjoys the freedom of working quickly, stripping back layers to reveal symbols from the unconscious. Currently, Pollard is studying Fine Arts at Newcastle Tafe.
